Raleigh Court and Southwest
This 11-mile route begins and ends at Fishburn Park, and passes by a whopping 15 city parks, and three recreation centers (the most of any route created). Highlights include the majestic Fishburn Mansion and its absolutely gorgeous springtime gardens, a secret connector path to Norwich Park, and tiny Triangle Park, nestled on a quiet street in the Wasena neighborhood. In my research of this route, I also learned that Fishburn Park was donated to the City by Blair J. Fishburn, a former Roanoke mayor, in 1935. If you have a mountain, gravel, or cross bike, be sure to come back and explore the Murray Run Greenway that runs through Shrine Hill, Woodlawn, and Fishburn Parks, or enjoy it as a hike!
