Nature Lab SeriesNature Lab Series at Mill Mountain Park

Are you looking for a way to add meaningful laboratory instruction and experiential education activities to your science curriculum?

Nature Lab is a six-week SOL-based science program for homeschool and virtual students taught by a fully licensed teacher in Mill Mountain Park.  This series allows for hands-on/minds-on weekly science exploration.  

Fall 2022 Nature Lab Sessions

Nature Lab: Session One
  • Grades: 3rd-5th grade
  • Days: Tuesdays, September 6 – October 11
  • Times: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Lab Materials are included in the course fee. Registration closes September 5 at 12 p.m.

  • Times:  3 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Bug Night

September 23 and October 26

Join us in Mill Mountain Park for s’mores as we explore some of the nighttime insects that inhabit our parks and backyards with a park Naturalist. We’ll use black lights to bring out some tree dwelling insects like Hercules beetles that we otherwise never get to see!

Did you know that bats can fly up to 100 mph, eat 1,200 mosquitos per hour, and their babies are called pups? Join us in Mill Mountain Park for s’mores with a park Naturalist as we explore these incredible flying mammals. Meet us at the Discovery Center for this high flying program!
