River’s Edge Park
River’s Edge Park is a large park in Roanoke. With the Roanoke River running through the center, the two park sections are commonly referred to as River’s Edge South and River’s Edge North. With two large baseball diamonds, 16 newly renovated, ADA accessible tennis courts and athletic fields, River’s Edge is a very popular park in Roanoke. Conveniently situated along the Roanoke River Greenway, the park is easily accessible by car, foot or bicycle.
River’s Edge – North
This park was recently renovated in 2020 with new, multi-use Bermuda grass athletic fields, lighting, scoreboards, parking lot, fountain feature, magnolia walkway, and greenway connector. It is also home to the ADA accessible Maher Baseball Field, eight tournament-ready and recently renovated, ADA-accessible tennis courts. River’s Edge North is one of the busiest parks in Roanoke. Many large events and festivals take place in the park.
River’s Edge – South
River’s Edge South is a popular destination for sports-lovers on any given weekend in the city. With seven, ADA Accessible fields, ranging from football and soccer to baseball, River’s Edge South is usually bustling in the fall, spring and summer with team sports. On the opposite side of the park, you’ll find more tennis courts and a playground. The beautiful Roanoke River and Roanoke River Greenway winds past River’s Edge South, making it easily accessible by car or on foot. The playground at River’s Edge South was being replaced in 2022.
