Argonne Circle
Argonne Circle is a small park, two-thirds of an acre in size, located in the Old Southwest neighborhood at the intersection of King George Avenue, SW and Fourth Street, SW. It contains a stone boulder monument, installed in 1925, that honors Roanoke’s 85 sons who went off to World War I and did not return. The park’s name comes from the French forest that saw the final allied offensive in the “The Great War.” More recently, a plaque has been added, honoring all veterans, past and present.
