Parks and Recreation Advisory Board

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (PRAB) will advise the City’s professional staff and City Council as to issues concerning citizen participatory input and guidance; act as clearinghouse for citizen concerns and opinions; advise professional staff with regard to Master Plan and Comprehensive Plan implementation; assist the general public in understanding decisions and policies made by municipal leadership; provide advocacy for community Parks and Recreation related issues; and facilitate communication between citizens, departmental staff, municipal administrative staff and legislative branches of local government by means of written directives and board recommendations.

At this time, PRAB meets virtually on the third Tuesday of each month in Room 308 of the Noel C. Taylor Municipal Building. For additional information or to attend the virtual meeting, please contact the Administrative Office, at 540-853-2236.

Mill Mountain Advisory Board

The Mill Mountain Advisory Board (MMAB) will advise the City’s professional staff and City Council as to issues concerning maintaining the integrity of Mill Mountain with respect to aesthetics, recreation, and accessibility; act as clearinghouse for citizen concerns and opinions regarding Mill Mountain; assist the general public in understanding decisions and policies made by municipal leadership; provide advocacy for Mill Mountain related issues; and facilitate communication between citizens, departmental staff, municipal administrative staff and legislative branches of local government by means of written directives and board recommendations.

At this time, MMAB meets virtually on the second Wednesday of each odd month in the Mill Mountain Discovery Center. For additional information or to attend the virtual meeting, please contact the Administrative Office, at 540-853-2236.

 

Youth Athletics Review Board

The Youth Athletics Review Board (YARB) is a Council-appointed review board that acts as a liaison to City Council on all matters concerning youth team sports. The Board will review and provide input during zone provider selection process; review and adjudicate Code of Ethics claims; review bylaws for appropriateness and recommend updates as needed; act as a sounding board for youth sports activities and initiatives from the perspective of the community.

Beginning January 2022, meetings will be held monthly on the second Thursday of the month. Meeting notices and agenda will be delivered to members in sufficient time for them to have been received by each member at least five (5) working days prior to the meeting.
