Washington Park
One of the roomier parks on the north side of town, Washington Park features an array of features including a playground (updated in 2022), Lick Run Greenway access, exercise equipment and basketball courts. The bottom section of the park is home to one of Roanoke’s two public outdoor swimming pools (built in 2025), a basketball court, shelter, and restrooms.

Washington Park Pool
The outdoor swimming pool at Washington Park, built in 2025, prioritizes community enjoyment. Three lap lanes are available, as well as a 14′ slide, lazy river, and ADA lift. There is a zero-entry area with splash features, including tumble buckets with rain shower, a water mushroom fountain, and kiddie slide. The facility also includes a sheltered shade area, patio seating, and a bath house with concessions space. The pool is located in lower Washington Park at 275 Orange Ave NW. Washington Park Pool opened for the season on June 7, 2025.

Lick Run Greenway
Lick Run Greenway begins in the heart of downtown Roanoke and extends uninterrupted from John Nolen Plaza, past Hotel Roanoke, then it passes through Entranceway Park, Washington Park, Brown-Robertson Park, and continuing north to Huff Lane Park near Valley View Mall.
Located along the greenway in Washington Park is a Track Trail kiosk as part of the Kids to Parks program. Learn more here.
