Who Can Win
- Anyone, regardless of residency, can participate and win.
- Employees of Roanoke Parks and Recreation and the immediate family members of each are ineligible. The term “immediate family” includes spouses, grandparents, parents, siblings, children and grandchildren.
How to Win
- Find Noke in a park, plaza, or greenway.
- If you find Noke, there will be instructions on how to claim your prize. Prizes will be announced each week prior to clue being released.
- Find a rubber chicken in a park, plaza, or greenway.
- Eight (8) rubber chickens will be hidden in parks, plazas, and greenways.
- If found, winner will receive a Bangles Tailgate box.
- Take a photo of you/your party searching for Noke or a chicken to be entered to win a weekly prize. The most creative picture wins.
- You must tag Play Roanoke on Facebook or Instagram AND include #playroanoke and #DoYouGnomeOurParks in your post.
- By entering, entrants represent and warrant (i) that they own the picture submitted, and (ii) it does not violate the rights of any third parties. No lewd, nude, crude, or offensive photographs (as determined by Roanoke Parks and Recreation in its sole and absolute discretion) will be accepted. Roanoke Parks and Recreation reserves the right in its sole and absolute discretion to disqualify any entry.
- By submitting a picture, you give Roanoke Parks and Recreation permission to use the picture in promotional materials.
- The contest starts on July 1, 2019, and all entries must be received by Roanoke Parks and Recreation by July 31, 2019.
- One (1) winner will be selected each week by the Roanoke Parks and Recreation staff. Remaining valid entries will not carry over to the next week.
The Prize(s)
- Three possible prizes:
- Find Noke: There will be one winner each week. That winner will receive one of four prizes [A one-night stay at Hotel Roanoke, including champagne and two breakfasts (valued at $250); a gift card to Roanoke Mountain Adventures for equipment rentals, guided tours, or merchandise and a $50 Visa gift card (valued at $300); a tour of the area by plane for three people (valued at $250); a Salem Red Sox suite for 15 people for a game of your choice (pending availability; valued at $350)]. Each prize will be announced at the beginning of each week. Winner does not get to choose which prize they receive.
2. Find a chicken. There will be up to two (2) winners each week. Winner will receive a Bojangles Tailgate box (eight-piece chicken, two sides, and biscuits), valued at $22.99.
3. Tag PLAY Roanoke on Facebook or Instagram along with a picture of your search for Noke or the chicken. Everyone who tags PLAY Roanoke or Instagram is eligible to win a $50 Visa gift card. The Roanoke Parks and Recreation staff will determine the most creative photo and notify the participant via Facebook or Instagram private message.
- If a winner cannot be notified/does not claim their prize within fourteen (14) days, then the prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner randomly selected from among remaining valid entries.
- There will be no substitutions or cash alternatives for any prize. No transfer or assignment of prizes is allowed.
- Participants (households) can potentially win three times: once for finding Noke, once for finding the chicken, and once for participating in the social media giveaway. Participants (households) are not eligible for multiple grand prizes, tailgate boxes, or social media prizes.
- Roanoke Parks and Recreation is not liable if the provider of any part of the prize fails to satisfy its obligations to furnish its portion of the prize.
- Roanoke Parks and Recreation is not responsible for any liability arising directly or indirectly from the award or use of the prize.
- In claiming your prize, you acknowledge that Roanoke Parks and Recreation has the right to publicize your name, character, likeness, photograph, voice and the fact that you are the winner for promotional purposes without financial remuneration.
Odds of Winning/Miscellaneous
- Odds of winning depend on the number of valid entries received and participants.
- This contest is subject to all applicable laws and regulations and is void where prohibited. Roanoke Parks and Recreation accepts no responsibility or liability in connection with any injuries, losses or damages of any kind caused by or resulting from the acceptance, possession or use of any prize awarded hereunder.
3. Roanoke Parks and Recreation is not responsible for any computer or electronic malfunction, server unavailability, technological glitch, or human error relating to this contest and/or the use of short-code.
- Roanoke Parks and Recreation reserves the right to make rules and contest changes, and change the aforementioned contest dates.
- By entering this contest, each entrant waives any and all claims of liability against Roanoke Parks and Recreation and the City of Roanoke for any and all claims, loss, damage or injury which may occur as a result of entrant’s participation in this contest.
