Roanoke’s Youth Softball league is organized by the region’s local recreation clubs. Your child’s recreation club will be determined based on where you live in the City of Roanoke. Roanoke’s Youth Softball season takes place each year starting in March.
Players must be between ages 6 and 18 as of Dec. 31 of the current season. Participants who are 18 years old must be enrolled in high school. Age divisions include: U8 (6 & 7 years old), U10 (8 & 9 years old), U12 (10 & 11 years old), U16 (12 – 15 years old), U18 (16 & 17 years old).
Roanoke’s Youth Baseball league is organized by the region’s local recreation clubs. Your child’s recreation club will be determined based on where you live in the City of Roanoke. Roanoke’s Youth Baseball season takes place each year starting in March. Youth baseball registrations usually open in mid-February and will be taken until a deadline set by each individual recreation club. However, players may be added to a team roster up until the first game of the season while roster spots are available.

Great Beginnings (Ages 3-6)
In this instructional program designed for children between ages 3 and 7, parents and children will work together to learn the basic motor skills needed to successfully move on to more organized sports. This program will prepare young children for the challenges of organized sports in a non-threatening environment. No need to worry about competition! Parents will get to spend quality time with their children while helping their child learn and build confidence. Great Beginnings is organized and led by Ed Green, a distinguished coach who has been coaching in the region for more than 40 years.

Roanoke’s adult softball is the largest adult athletic program in the region. Offered in both spring and fall, Roanoke’s adult softball leagues are divided into Upper and Lower competition levels. The Lower league is designed for a laid back, beginner-level team that just wants to have a good time. The Upper league is ideal for teams with intermediate to advanced skill levels who are looking for a more competitive game.
Bat Testing Times: You can visit the Roanoke Parks and Recreation main office at 215 Church Ave., Room 303, to have your bat tested at the following times: Monday’s, Tuesday’s, and Thursday’s: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM.
