Wednesday Night Disco Mountain Bike Race Series LogoRoanoke’s classic after work race is back baby! Read for details on how we’re packing in the groove, but keeping the heebie-jeebies at bay (ie – We’ve got some covid policies you’ll need to know!)

Pre-registration only! Racing begins with check-in at the Discovery Center in Mill Mountain Park. Parking is available at the Discovery Center and beside the Roanoke Star. Riders boogie on down the mountain to the start at the Riverland Road Parking Lot and race the trails back up again to finish at the Mill Mountain Discovery Center.

UPDATE: To ensure this is a safe, fun, and worthwhile event we have instituted a decision deadline of Monday at 5pm prior to each week’s race. If we can get 30 racers and 8 course marshals by then, we will continue full-steam-ahead and keep registration open til 12pm on Wednesday. If not, we will have to cancel.

Want to join the fun, but not race? We need course marshals to make this race possible, please sign up for a week or two… or all three!

A note on ability: The Wednesday Night Disco Mountain Bike Race Series is novice rider-friendly while also providing a local weeknight training ground for more experienced mountain bikers. Perfect for first-time racers!

Pre-arrival Screening: All racers and course marshals must complete a pre-screening at check-in each week to ensure that no one races or volunteers who has had a known exposure to covid19.

Masks: Everyone present, race officials, racers, course marshals, parents, and coaches must all wear masks or cloth face coverings over their nose and mouth at all times. The only exception is for racers while racing. Please be sure you have a mask handy to put on as soon as you finish.

Waves: Everyone must arrive at the start by 6:00 p.m.. Depending on the size of the group, we will divide into two waves of no more than 50 racers each, separated into corrals by category (First wave: Elite, Single Speed, and Sport, second wave: Beginner/Novice and all Juniors). Please be sure to maintain 6′ of distance between you and the nearest riders in your corral. If we must divide into waves, the first will go at 6:00 p.m. and the second will start at 6:05 p.m.

Finish-line: No after-party this time, awards will be given as riders finish. Please cool-down at a distance and then head home.

Spectators: PARENTS, FRIENDS, & COACHES, we cannot allow spectators this year, but would encourage you to volunteer for a week or two to see your riders in action on the course–we can’t do it without you! Volunteer to be a course marshal here.

Pre-registration online only! You must register by 12 p.m. on race-day(s) to be allowed to race. No onsite registrations will be taken. Everyone must arrive at the Discovery Center for each race to check in, pick up your number or get added to the scoring system each week (if you don’t check-in, we can’t count your results!) Check-in opens at 4:30 p.m. and closes at the Discovery Center at 5:45 p.m. and all racers must be in their corrals at the Riverland Road Parking Lot by 6:00 p.m. sharp. Each race is $15.00, or you can register for the entire three-race series for $40.00 until noon on May 12th, after that only individual race registrations will be taken.
