Holton Plaza

Formerly known as SunTrust Plaza, Holton Plaza is dedicated to former Governor Linwood Holton located in downtown Roanoke between Market Square and Elmwood Park. The plaza’s edges are pulled back from sidewalks to make room for food carts and food trucks. Larger shade trees enclose the plaza near main sidewalks.

Dogwoods, one of Holton’s favorite trees, and seat walls engraved with notable quotes from Holton’s inaugural address line the plaza’s perimeter. Beautiful blooming Crepe Myrtle trees surround a central island. Entering the plaza, visitors find a pedestal and plaques highlighting milestones in Holton’s life.
