DAY TRIP: Blue Ridge Flyer Train Trip

Join us on Saturday, March 21, 2026, as we drive the T+T van to Staunton, Virginia as we climb aboard Virginia Scenic Railway’s Blue Ridge Flyer. Experience the thrill of roaring in darkness through the nearly 1-mile-long Blue Ridge Tunnel, carved out of rock hundreds of feet below the summit above.  We will enjoy views from our coach class seats as the train passes through neighboring communities including Staunton, Fishersville, Waynesboro, and Afton. The train will turn around in Ivy for the return journey and make a second pass through the darkness of the Blue Ridge Tunnel. Total train travel: 3 hours. 

PRICE PER PERSON: $99.00. The full amount is due at the time of reservation.
Beverages and adult beverages are available for purchase on the train. Please note that outside food and drinks are not permitted on the train.

PRICE INCLUDES: Round-trip parks and recreation transit van transportation, 1 Train ticket: coach class, and a tour host.

Italian prosciutto, specialty cheeses, crackers, walnuts, grapes, dried fruit, and a light dessert.

2. Veggie Pita Wrap
A fresh and flavorful veggie wrap featuring a tomato basil tortilla, sautéed peppers, mushrooms, and onions, crisp cucumbers, and a creamy homemade hummus.

3. Club Sandwich
A triple-stacked favorite layered with roasted turkey, crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, and cheddar on brioche bread, served with mayonnaise.

DEPARTURE TIME AND LOCATIONS: The van will depart at 1:00 PM, City of Roanoke Public Works Bldg. 1802 Courtland Rd, NE. Return time to Roanoke is around 8:30 PM.

Cancellation Policy: The trip is based on a minimum number of paid participants by the registration date. Should we cancel the trip, a full refund will be given. If you cancel before the registration date, a full refund will be issued; after that date, there will be 50% service fee collected.
