🚐 To Kill a Mockingbird at Barter Theatre
Join us on Saturday, November 4, 2023, as we attend the matinee of To Kill A Mockingbird at the Barter Theatre, Abingdon, VA. Young Scout and her brother Jem live in the sleepy town of Maycomb, Alabama with their widowed father, the lawyer Atticus Finch. Life is wonderful – until the facade of the seemingly peaceful town begins to crack when a young Black man is accused of a terrible crime. Driven by an unshakeable moral conviction, Atticus defends the man in a trial that sends waves of violence through the community. This hard-hitting work explores prejudice, compassion and the courage to do what is right. We will also make other stops along the way and stop for lunch (on your own).
PRICE PER PERSON: $99. Full amount is due when reservation is made.
PRICE INCLUDES: Roundtrip transportation on Roanoke Parks and Rec vans/bus, admission ticket to Barter Theatre, and a tour host.
DEPARTURE TIMES AND LOCATIONS: The Parks and Rec van/bus will depart from Valley View Mall, Roanoke, VA (overflow parking) at 7:30 a.m. It will pick up passengers at Food Lion, exit 137, Salem, at 7:45 a.m. We can also pick up at Hardee’s, exit 118, Christiansburg, at 8:00 a.m. and at Walmart, exit 98, Dublin, at 8:30 a.m. Return time to Roanoke is around 8:45 p.m.
CANCELLATION POLICY: The trip is based on a minimum amount of paid participants by October 4, 2023. If we cancel, a full refund will be given. If you cancel before October 4, a refund less $35 fee will be awarded. After October 4, 2023, there will be no refunds.
We depart from the overflow parking lot at Valley View Mall, Roanoke, VA. The overflow lot is on the LOWER side of the mall. It is below the former Sears Auto and the side corner of Belk. You see the side of Walmart. WE PARK DOWN TOWARD I-581. You can see the traffic on 581 from this lot. This lot has around 50 spaces to park. Ring Road completely circles the mall. This lot is the only parking area between Ring Road and I-581.
