Offered at three different community recreation centers in Roanoke, the Positive Learning and Adventure for Youth (PLAY) program is designed to give children a place to receive homework assistance and participate in enrichment activities while enjoying a safe, welcoming and positive after-school care environment. Activities include sports and games, visits from special speakers or instructors, arts and crafts, and more. All activities focus on overall youth development.

Program Details:

  • Children must be at least 5 years old and enrolled in kindergarten
  • P.L.A.Y. costs $25 per week per child
  • Runs from 2:30 – 5:30 p.m. on weekdays *
  • Homeschooled students must meet the enrollment requirements above in order to participate

* This program is not available on certain holidays and is not in operation when Roanoke City Schools are closed due to inclement weather

The P.L.A.Y. program takes place at Eureka Recreation Center, Grandin Court Recreation Center and Preston Recreation Center.
