Nature Lab Summer Excursions: Wild Caving
Introducing Nature Lab Summer Excursions!
Take a “field trip” with us this summer as we experience a new adventure activity each month! In June, we’re wild caving, July we’ll be downriver paddling, and in August we’re doing an overnight to watch the meteor shower! Join for just one, or sign up for all three adventures.
*Kids only, ages 8-15! This is a great way to get a taste of the summer camp experience without committing to a whole week.
Wild Caving:
Journey under the earth to experience first hand the wonderful ecology and geology of a one of Virginia’s 3,000 caves. Participants will suit up in helmets, gloves, and headlamps and explore the winding passages and grand galleries, all the while getting to see unique cave formations, and meet the wild creatures that call our caves home.
Be ready to crawl, climb, squeeze, and get muddy! Instruction, equipment and transportation are provided.
This program will depart from our Public Works Service Center at 1802 Courtland Road NE in Roanoke.
