P.L.A.Y. – Postive Learning and Adventure for Youth
Offered at three different Recreation Centers throughout the city, After-School P.L.A.Y. provides a place for children to get homework assistance, enrichment activities, structured recreation, and general after-school care from 2:30-5:30 p.m. Children will be able to interact with one another in a safe, positive and nurturing environment. All locations maintain a staff to participant ratio of 1:10. Registration must be received by 5 p.m. the Wednesday before each weekly session. Space is limited and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis so register early! The program will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Roanoke City Public Schools scheduled early dismissal days and is cancelled when Roanoke City Public Schools are closed for inclement weather. Locations include Preston Park Recreation Center, Eureka Park Recreation Center, and Grandin Court Recreation Center.
Join us next summer for a program packed full of activities at Summer P.L.A.Y.! With convenient weekly sessions at two locations, this 9-week version of our After-School P.L.A.Y. program includes sports and games, arts and crafts, and various field trips, all with a focus on overall youth development; full day and half day camps are offered. Qualified, trained, and experienced counselors will initiate fun and challenging activities for all participants with a counselor to participant ratio of no more than 1:10. Individuals can register for the entire summer or week-by-week. Weekly registrations must be submitted by 5 p.m. the Wednesday before each weekly session. Children also receive two snacks each day as well as a nutritious breakfast and lunch made possible through the USDA Summer Food Program.
