Women’s Beginner Mountain Biking, April 21, 2015

(18+, 14+ with an adult) This women’s specific program will start with what to check on your bike before the ride, then move into a talk about women’s specific body position, gears, cadence, and conclude with a beginner friendly ride on the Bennett Springs Loop trail at Carvins Cove. Taught by women and for women, this course will allow you to explore the realm of mountain biking from a different perspective. No experience is necessary. Participants must have a bike, helmet, and pass to Carvins Cove. The program fee includes instruction only. Carvins Cove day passes are available at the Bennett Springs Parking Lot. Day passes are $2.00, yearly passes are $20.00. Cash or check only for passes on site.

Switchbacks Mountain Biking, May 5, 2015

(18+, 14+ with an adult) You’ve ridden the easy stuff but don’t know where to start when the trails change from green circle to blue square and the turns get tighter. Check out this clinic for the low down on how to ride trail with tight turns called switchbacks. Participants must have a bike, helmet, and should have experience riding a mountain bike on trails. The program fee includes instruction only.

Creek Crossings Mountain Biking, May 12, 2015

(18+, 14+ with an adult) By popular demand! Learn how to pick a line, maintain momentum and clean the creek crossings by bike rather than foot. Features Focus Mountain Biking, May 19, 2015

(18+, 14+ with an adult) Do skinnies and log stacks intimidate you? Dominate them in this evening mountain biking clinic! Participants will head out on the Enchanted Forest Trail with a quest to ride all of the technical features along the way. Spotting will be taught to participants and encouraged throughout the ride. The program fee includes instruction only. Participants are required to have their own bike, helmet, and pass to Carvins Cove. Participants should describe themselves as an intermediate rider. Carvins Cove day passes are available at the Bennett Springs parking lot. Day passes are $2.00, yearly passes are $20.00. Cash or check only for passes on site.

Interested in a Group Ride? Check out these weekly mountain bike rides through RIMBA and local bike shops!

RIMBA has plenty of group rides for all ability levels. The most popular ones are listed below, but check out their calendar for the most up to date schedule of what they have going on.

RIMBA Beginner/Intermediate Ride at the Cove–Saturday mornings at 11:00am at the Bennett Springs Parking Lot

RIMBA M3: Monday Mill Mountain–Ride with Kyle Inman as long as it is 50 degrees or warmer on the Mill Mountain trails. Duration is between one to one and a half hours. Meeting time is 6pm at Rivers Edge Park.

RIMBA Beginner/Intermediate Ride at the Cove–Meet at the Bennett Springs Parking Lot at 6:00pm for a no drop ride, continuing throughout winter unless the weather is under 20 degrees or raining.

RIMBA Tuesday Night Ride at the Cove–Meet at the Bennett Springs Parking Lot at 6:00pm for a sport-expert level ride led by Chris Clark.

RIMBA Thursday Lunch Vacation Ride–Meets at Underdog Bikes at the base of Mill Mountain at 12:30pm on Thursdays. Duration is about an hour and participants commonly grab a bite to eat at Fork in the Alley afterwards. For more information, check out “RIMBA Lunch Vacation Ride” on facebook.

Weekly Thursday Night Ride at Mill Mountain–sponsored by East Coasters Bike Shop. This ride leaves from Fork in the Alley at 6:30pm and is an intermediate ride for approximately 90 minutes.  For more information, contact East Coasters at 540-774-7933.

Starlight Bikes Weekly Wednesday Night Ladies Ride–sponsored by Starlight Bikes. Meet at their shop in Grandin for a 2 part ride–one part Fishburn Park trails, the other part Mill Mountain Trails. Ride duration is about 1.5 hours for this no-drop ride. For more information, contact Starlight Bikes at 540-400-6684.
